Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support certification required upon hire or orientation
- Minimum one year experience preferred in medical provider office setting
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Proficiency with modern office and computer equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
- Ability to remain calm under adversity
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support certification
- Experience in medical provider office as receptionist or medical assistant preferred
- Proficiency with office, computer and telephone equipment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret policies, regulations and documents
- Understanding of provider office operations
- Ability to work as a team member
- Positive and cooperative attitude
Job Duties
- Open office including unlocking doors and turning on equipment
- Disconnect answering service and facilitate messages
- Answer telephone promptly
- Deliver messages to appropriate persons within 30 minutes
- Call patients to confirm appointments using automated reminder system
- Greet patients and vendors professionally
- Assist patients with sign-in and update demographic and insurance information
- Scan insurance cards and HIPAA documents into EMR
- Obtain signatures for Medicare and Medicaid billing and scan documents
- Verify and update insurance authorizations
- Scan medical record information into EMR
- Schedule patient appointments
- Process patient discharges according to policy
- Participate in quality programs including documentation
- Maintain cleanliness of waiting room
- Verify and update daily transactions
- Balance credit card terminal daily and run transaction report
- Monitor and order office supplies
- Maintain providers' schedules
- Manage daily office mail
- Process medical records release requests
- Manage office petty cash
- Work assigned hours using time and attendance system
- Support hospital mission, vision, policies, and code of ethical behavior
