Job Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Active and valid driver’s license upon hire and throughout employment
- Ability to work Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with rotating Saturdays
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to organizational information security policies
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, reaching, lifting up to 10 lbs, manual dexterity
- Ability to work in patient-facing indoor environments
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols
- Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate with patients, providers, and staff
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
- Ability to interact effectively, support staff, and maintain professional working relationships
- Excellent customer service skills with professional and friendly demeanor
- Maintain professional phone skills and etiquette, speak clearly and concisely
- Use good judgment and maintain patient confidentiality
- Must be able to file alphanumerically
- Experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines
Job Duties
- Check in patients upon arrival, update demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collect co-pays and patient balances, provide consents for signature and health questionnaires
- Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and schedule follow-up appointments
- Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand, contact patients with inactive insurance or inappropriate PCP
- Post patient charges and payments, complete charge and payment reconciliation
- Scan and upload documents through the Document Management system
- Sort and deliver mail and Pediatric Associates documents received by courier, maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area
- Participate in staff and educational meetings
