Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
  • Accuracy and dependability

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
  • Answer telephones in a timely courteous and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
  • Process calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member or provider in a timely manner
  • Schedule patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and process copay and point of service collections
  • Perform patient registration and chart preparation
  • Manage incoming and outgoing faxes and provide clerical support to providers and staff
