Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school degree
  • One to two years experience in healthcare or medical practice preferred
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn computer skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
  • Ability to operate computer keyboard or typewriter
  • Knowledge of insurance billing and referral procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High level of patience, tolerance and tact
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Initiative and assertiveness in problem-solving

Job Qualifications

  • Vocational training in medical receptionist and medical billing preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Schedule, confirm and manage patient appointments
  • Handle patient registration and verify insurance information
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, hospital departments and insurance carriers
  • Maintain accurate patient records and appointment logs
  • Assist with medical billing and referral processes
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide support with administrative tasks
