Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire or orientation
  • minimum one year experience in medical office preferred
  • ability to operate office and computer equipment
  • ability to sit for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current Basic Life Support certification
  • minimum of one year experience in a medical provider office preferred
  • proficiency with office, computer, and telephone equipment
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • knowledge of provider office operations
  • ability to read and interpret policies and regulations

Job Duties

  • Open office (unlock doors, turn on all equipment, etc.)
  • disconnect answering service and facilitate messages
  • answer telephone in a timely manner
  • take messages and distribute within 30 minutes
  • call patients who have not confirmed appointments
  • greet patients and vendors professionally
  • assist patients with sign-in and update demographic and insurance information
  • scan insurance cards and HIPAA documents into EMR
  • provide Medicare and Medicaid billing documentation and obtain signatures
  • verify insurance authorization
  • scan medical records into EMR
  • schedule patient appointments
  • process patient discharges
  • participate in quality programs and document telephone communications
  • maintain cleanliness of waiting room
  • verify and update daily transactions
  • balance credit card terminal and run transaction reports
  • monitor and order office supplies
  • maintain providers' meeting schedule
  • handle office mail and date stamp
  • process release of medical records requests
  • manage petty cash
  • work scheduled hours and maintain time records
  • support hospital mission, vision, policies, and ethical standards
