Job Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related educational program such as Physician, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or certified/licensed as an emergency medical technician EMT Basic, EMT 2-intermediate, or EMT 3-advanced/paramedic if allowable
  • Must work within the scope of the professional license or certification as defined by the state in which the work is performed
  • One year experience in hospital, field care, or plasma center preferred
  • Maintain current and valid license and pass medical credential evaluation
  • Successfully complete training program and competency assessments using OPI-approved training modules or training curriculum
  • Must maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR certification

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related educational program
  • Certification or licensure as an emergency medical technician EMT Basic or higher
  • Ability to work within professional license or certification scope as per state regulations
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in hospital, field care, or plasma center preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards including FDA, CLIA, and cGMP
  • Excellent communication skills for donor counseling and education
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Competency in using donor management systems and following SOPs
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development

Job Duties

  • Determines donor eligibility for plasmapheresis procedures and immunizations by conducting evaluations and ensuring criteria are met in accordance with SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP
  • Reviews informed consent forms for plasmapheresis and immunization, explaining procedures, potential adverse events, immunization schedules, antibody formation, and dose administration
  • Performs medical history reviews and health assessments for donors
  • Uses SOPs to facilitate compliance with regulations
  • Reviews donor management system and immunization paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews accumulated data to confirm eligibility and consults with donor center Licensed Physician as needed
  • Classifies donors to appropriate program
  • Monitors donor reactions to plasmapheresis and documents accordingly
  • Performs duties for the Hyperimmune Program as described in SOPs if applicable
  • Reviews all normal and abnormal test results in the donor management system to determine continued donor eligibility
  • Ensures confidentiality of employee, donor, and donor center records
  • Counsels donors with abnormal test results or eligibility concerns and defers them according to the donor deferral matrix, referring donors to appropriate health departments for follow up when applicable
  • Performs other duties as assigned
