Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One year certificate from college or technical school with concentration in front office support for medical settings preferred
  • At least three years of experience in a front desk or customer service related field required
  • Experience in a medical office preferred

  • One year certificate from college or technical school in medical front office support preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in front desk or customer service roles
  • Experience in medical office setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to use computerized scheduling and billing systems
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

Job Duties

  • Organizes and maintains patient charts including generating and filing chart numbers
  • Answers telephone inquiries, directs callers or initiates triage slips for medical personnel
  • Schedules appointments and enters them into a computerized scheduler
  • Conducts reminder calls to patients
  • Greets and directs patients, visitors, and salespeople
  • Registers patients by verifying and updating records
  • Coordinates patient referrals through insurance and other physician offices
  • Prepares billings in computerized system for finance processing
  • Collects payments and reconciles daily cash reports
  • Identifies and solves problems timely by analyzing information and developing solutions
  • Demonstrates professionalism and tact while interacting with others
  • Maintains strong customer service orientation and manages difficult situations
  • Performs and maintains annual competencies
  • May perform other duties as assigned
