Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences or Bachelor of Science in related discipline with 2 yrs of experience
- ASCP Certification or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Ability to perform complex immunohematology testing independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining quality control and safety standards
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences or Bachelor of Science in related discipline with 2 yrs of experience
- ASCP Certification or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- Ability to perform and validate complex immunohematology procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with laboratory quality control and equipment maintenance
Job Duties
- Provide direct patient care by supplying the patient with appropriate blood components
- Perform ABO/Rh, IAT, DAT, antibody identification, crossmatching units of blood and running the automated ABO/RH, IAT equipment
- Wash red blood cells and platelets
- Perform platelet crossmatching and platelet antibody identification
- Perform daily reagent QC and equipment preventive maintenance
- Issue blood and blood components to the floors
- Communicate effectively with the blood bank customers including physicians, nurses, and other UAMS staff members
