Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months experience as a medical assistant
  • Or completion of medical assistant, emergency medical technician, nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse or armed services medic program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC) or Canadian equivalents for clinics with Rural Health Designation within 6 months of hire
  • Eligible for $2,000 sign-on bonus
  • Available to work full-time schedule from 8 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No weekend or on-call work
  • Ability to perform patient care and administrative duties
  • Must comply with established policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months experience as a medical assistant or completion of related programs such as emergency medical technician, nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse or armed services medic program
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA preferred
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through AMT preferred
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • One year experience working in medical office with multiple providers
  • Previous experience in medical office of same specialty preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent patient care by performing or assisting in medical procedures
  • Take vital signs and assist with examinations
  • Administer injections and perform venipuncture
  • Greet patients and answer phone calls directing callers appropriately
  • Manage patient registration and schedule appointments
  • Collect insurance co-pays and deductibles
  • Verify insurance information
  • Record financial activity and account for transactions during shifts
