Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- six months experience in a medical assistant role or completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program
- basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ability to exert physical force up to 50 pounds occasionally
- residency and work eligibility in the State of Texas
- adherence to security-sensitive position guidelines as per Texas Education Code and Government Code
- ability to maintain security and confidentiality per institutional policies
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- willingness to perform various clinical and administrative tasks
- commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork
- completion of all mandatory trainings and certifications
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred
- six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program
- basic Life Support (BLS) certification by American Heart Association required
- familiarity with standard clinic equipment
- strong communication and organizational skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment
Job Duties
- perform responsibilities that promote quality patient care and customer service satisfaction
- participate effectively in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic requirements
- room patients according to clinic needs while documenting chief complaint, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history, and other required information
- perform hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, specimen collection, and equipment cleaning as competency validated
- prepare and stock rooms and clinic supplies daily or weekly and clean rooms between patients
- assist with routine and specialty procedures
- schedule patients for follow-up appointments or referrals and perform routine clerical duties including photocopying, scanning, and faxing
- perform telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up
- maintain privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines
- perform other duties as assigned
