Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Certification from accredited program or military equivalent
- Knowledge of occupational medicine state-specific requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Demonstrated customer service ability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass background checks and meet state employment regulations
- Willingness to complete required training and certifications
- Ability to work under direct supervision
- Capability to handle confidential patient information
- Physical ability to perform medical tasks and operate equipment
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials
- Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements
- Previous medical office experience preferred
- Strong service mentality, attention to detail, sense of urgency, initiative and flexibility
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems logically
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in compliance with HIPAA and PHI regulations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain working relationships with all levels of staff
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Successfully complete orientation and demonstrate competency in medical tasks
- Obtain certifications including Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection
Job Duties
- Perform ancillary testing including vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing as ordered by clinicians
- Perform rapid screening tests such as influenza, strep, mono, glucose
- Prepare patients for physical examinations including taking vital signs and required testing
- Triage and disposition all patients
- Assist providers during examination and treatment
- Prepare for and assist clinician with surgery set up and injury care
- Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
- Dispense medications and appliances as ordered and in compliance with state regulations
- Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Maintain and operate medical devices and equipment including calibration and record keeping
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and testing processes
- Maintain supplies, clean rooms and stock exam rooms
- Notify supervisor of equipment or supply issues
- Manage patient flow and communicate wait times
- Perform clerical tasks related to patient care and record keeping
- Cross train to perform front office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorizations, check in/out
- Answer telephone as needed
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Assist in maintaining a neat, clean and orderly facility appearance
