Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Military Medical Specialist credentials in the state of employment
  • Knowledge of occupational medicine requirements
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks under supervision
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with all employee levels
  • Computer skills
  • Willingness to complete ongoing training and certifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials in accordance with state requirements
  • Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements
  • Previous medical office experience preferred
  • Demonstrated outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA and PHI regulations
  • Effective communication and interaction skills with patients, providers and staff
  • Computer proficiency
  • Successful completion of required orientation, training and competency assessments
  • Certification in Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection

Job Duties

  • Perform ancillary testing including vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing as ordered by clinicians
  • Perform rapid screening tests such as influenza, strep, mono and glucose
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations including taking vital signs and required testing
  • Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician
  • Triage and disposition all patients
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments
  • Prepare and assist clinician with surgery setup and injury care
  • Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered
  • Dispense medications and appliances as ordered and in accordance with state regulations
  • Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
  • Maintain and operate medical devices and equipment including calibration and record keeping
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment, devices and testing processes
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment and stock exam rooms
  • Notify supervisor if equipment is malfunctioning or supplies are needed
  • Manage patient flow and keep patients informed of wait times
  • Perform clerical tasks related to patient care and record keeping
  • Cross trained to perform front office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check-in/out and communicating wait times
  • Answer telephone as needed
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly facility appearance
