Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • graduate from nationally accredited medical assistant program or equivalent healthcare preparation
  • minimum 2 years medical assistant experience
  • proficiency in venipuncture and injections
  • current CPR certification
  • knowledge of clinical procedures, medical anatomy and physiology
  • proficiency in communication
  • ability to multi-task
  • spoken and written fluency in English

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • graduate from nationally accredited medical assistant program or equivalent healthcare preparation
  • certified clinical medical assistant (CCMA) preferred
  • minimum of 2 years medical assistant experience in healthcare setting
  • proficiency in venipuncture and injections
  • current CPR certification
  • knowledge of clinical procedures, medical anatomy and physiology
  • familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT codes
  • understanding of insurance eligibility and copay determination
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to multi-task in fast-paced environments
  • English fluency, bilingual preferred

Job Duties

  • book appointments
  • triage patients
  • record patient interview, history and chief complaints using Athena EMR
  • facilitate in-office and virtual consultations including pre-visit chart review and equipment preparation
  • clean and sterilize equipment
  • orient patients to practice technology
  • facilitate communication between provider and patient
  • participate in assessments using scopes and other equipment
  • prepare patients for examinations
  • set up referrals for routine screening tests
  • assist physicians with exams
  • explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients
  • prepare and administer medications under supervision
  • perform first aid procedures such as changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures
  • use CPR skills as needed
  • collect lab specimens and perform basic lab tests
  • maintain and stock supplies and sterilize instruments
  • ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance
  • process patient messages and route them appropriately
  • conduct insurance verifications and payment collections
  • foster community relationships to promote Ascend Medical
  • work high patient volume events such as flu clinics and physicals
  • conduct business in a service-oriented, respectful, and kind manner
