Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience working directly with customers
  • read, understand, and accurately prepare recipes
  • correctly adjust recipes to produce required portions
  • use portion control to maintain flavor, appearance, and contribute to cost containment
  • follow written and oral instructions
  • meet all schedules and assignments
  • organize work and work area to complete assigned duties accurately and quickly
  • accurately use measuring equipment and utensils
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures used in hospitals and food service areas
  • knowledge of diets, diet terminology, and dietary abbreviations or ability to learn
  • willingness to work variable shifts including graveyard, weekends, holidays
  • ability to rotate to various units, buildings, and areas
  • successful completion of criminal background check and compliance with mandated reporting policies

Job Qualifications

  • Customer service experience working directly with customers
  • ability to read, understand, and accurately prepare recipes
  • skill in correctly adjusting recipes to produce required portions
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures used in hospitals and food service areas
  • understanding of diets, diet terminology, and dietary abbreviations or ability to learn
  • prior experience in food preparation techniques
  • Servsafe or Food Handler Card preferred
  • experience in large volume cooking preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items according to set recipe specifications in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment
  • manage service areas such as trayline, cafeteria, cafeteria grill, deli, and catering
  • set up and prepare food service items to meet department standards
  • use portion control to maintain flavor, appearance, and cost containment
  • follow written and oral instructions to complete assignments
  • organize work area to complete duties accurately and quickly
  • ensure safety and sanitation compliance in all food preparation and service activities
