Job Requirements

  • minimum age 18 years
  • ability to lift 80+ pounds
  • operation of meat saw grinder cubing machine wrapping machine knives slicer steamer and scales
  • physical ability to walk stand sit twist bend and use hands and arms repetitively
  • occasional stooping crouching kneeling crawling and use of step stools or ladders
  • ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • ability to read and understand safety rules operating and maintenance manuals

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or ged or related job experience and/or training
  • 2+ years experience in the meat industry
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • knowledge of meat preservation and processing techniques
  • ability to train and develop team members
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to maintain high standards of product quality and customer service

Job Duties

  • develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior
  • promote a high level of morale within department and store utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication
  • provide a safe clean and positive environment and consistently build and support a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement
  • comply with all company policies procedures programs and directives and promote a harassment-free environment
  • continually build knowledge and skills personally and within the department through training and education of self and other team members
  • attend departmental store and company meetings as required and contribute to profits and revenues meeting productivity standards
  • aid in the development and growth of team members by ensuring regular implementation of coaching training evaluation and counseling procedures and effectively perform team member evaluations and disciplinary issues
  • provide a professional example for other store team members to follow
  • establish and monitor team member work schedules to ensure maximum guest service productivity and efficiency
  • maintain effective control of department inventory through proper ordering guarding against waste and pilferage and maintaining adequate and appropriate department records
  • maintain effective control of product quality by continual monitoring of product appearance and maintaining proper stock rotation
  • be responsible for gross profit merchandising preparing and displaying product within set guidelines and standards maintaining effective control of department sales wage expenses and inventory within budgets and ensuring department contributes to profits revenues
  • plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales and work with store management offering ideas for cross merchandising with other departments
  • maintain an awareness of the department's competitive activity within the store marketing areas
  • accept additional duties assigned by direct authority or store director
