Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience
- Preferred 3-5 years grocery retail experience in Meat department processes and procedures
- Journeyman cutter program completed
- Must maintain the highest level of customer service
- Ability to adapt to a high volume retail environment
- Capacity to take initiative when problems arise
- Flexibility to adapt in various situations
- Advanced attention to detail with capability to prioritize
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to multitask and possess organizational skills
- Ability to work varied hours and days
- Familiarity with Health Department regulations for grocery retail
- Advanced knowledge of math, weights, and measures
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
- Skilled with knives, tenderizers, grinders, and meat machinery
- Expert packaging and wrapping skills
- Ability to cut and weigh meat and seafood
- Understanding of COOL compliance for seafood products
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare weekly sales and labor projections to maximize sales and profits
- Monitor and control costs including ordering, inventory control, cutting procedures, shrink, and ad displays
- Manage Meat Department staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance reviews
- Oversee shift operations including work schedule approvals
- Ensure weekly flyer ads are stocked and products for ads are properly ordered and available
- Stock and organize meat cases maintaining presentation, facing, filling, and pricing accuracy
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in meat aisles, storage, and work areas
- Assist customers at the meat counter, providing product information, sales, and cross-selling
- Receive, inspect, and log product shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality
- Operate meat department equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and pallet jacks
- Monitor product rotation and discard expired or spoiled products
- Balance meat general ledger and financial statements
- Manage inventory preparation and control, ensuring accurate tagging and no stock outs
- Weigh and label meat products accurately following proper procedures
- Ensure proper temperature maintenance during meat and seafood production
- Follow safety practices including use of mesh gloves with knives
- Maintain high product knowledge and preparation standards
- Regularly inspect department for cleanliness, organization, and sanitary conditions
- Perform additional duties as assigned
