Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience in meat cutting preferred
  • Ability to safely handle knives and powered equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel and squat
  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments
  • Ability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Must be reliable and punctual

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ years meat cutting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in knife handling and other cutting equipment
  • Knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and assist customers while completing duties
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to operate hand-held computer scanners and food scales
  • Knowledge of animal living conditions and ability to educate customers
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to uphold company policies including anti-harassment program
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and varying shifts including overtime

Job Duties

  • Cut and trim meat to size for display or as ordered by customer using hand-tools and power equipment such as grinders, cubing machine and power saw
  • Clean and cut fish and poultry
  • Shape, lace and tie meat cuts by hand using bonding knife, skewer and twine to form roasts
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at the Meat and Seafood counters
  • Merchandise cuts of meat to maximize customer appeal and department profit
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times including proper sanitation and cleaning of all equipment and cases along with proper handling and storage of products
  • Receive product and load into refrigerator
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department management
