Job Requirements
- Ability to perform duties without more than normal supervision
- Meet quality level of experience as per OPM Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C
- Experience in operating heavy forklifts with capacity up to 50,000 pounds
- Knowledge of transportation and warehousing safety regulations
- Ability to handle hazardous and specialty cargo safely
- Physical ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques
- Ability to operate electric, gasoline, diesel, or LPG powered forklift trucks
- Knowledge of transportation policies and safety rules
- Skill in using automated processing equipment
- Ability to follow specialized preservation and handling procedures for hazardous cargo
- Ability to drive and operate motor vehicles safely
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Job Duties
- Independently operate heavy capacity forklift trucks with loads up to 50,000 pounds
- Receive, store, issue, ship, pickup, deliver, and preserve various types of cargo
- Use automated material processing equipment including computer terminals, optical readers, and scanners
- Adhere to transportation safety regulations and protective service procedures
- Safely handle hazardous or specialty cargo such as munitions, explosives, and toxic materials
- Drive motor vehicles in various traffic and weather conditions while operating vehicle controls
- Conduct minor emergency repairs on vehicles such as changing flat tires
