Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • Subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Disclosure of political appointments required
  • Direct deposit required for all federal employees
  • Must possess applicable licenses or authorizations for operating assigned vehicles/equipment
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • Must be able to work with hazardous materials
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain secret security clearance
  • Must communicate effectively in English orally and in writing
  • Designated as a drug testing position subject to random testing
  • Position is essential to wartime/contingency operations
  • Must be removed from military recall if alternative filling is unavailable
  • Limited area of consideration to AMC command-wide

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques
  • Skill to safely operate forklifts with a capacity of up to 50,000 pounds including starting, stopping, backing, lifting, lowering, and tilting
  • Knowledge of transportation policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulations
  • Skill in using automated material processing equipment and systems including computer terminals, optical readers, and scanners
  • Ability to follow specialized preservation, handling, and storage procedures for hazardous or specialty cargo
  • Ability to safely drive and operate motor vehicles considering controls, traffic, and varying road conditions

Job Duties

  • Independently perform a wide range of warehousing duties including receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, pickup, and delivery of materials and equipment
  • Operate electric, gasoline, LPG, or diesel powered forklifts capable of lifting loads up to 50,000 pounds higher than 168 inches and automated material handling equipment
  • Secure hazardous and non-hazardous cargo prior to shipment
  • Drive pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks on public roads at highway speeds
  • Utilize safety practices and comply with established safety rules and maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment
