Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • must have a non-critical sensitive security clearance
  • must comply with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as a non-exempt employee
  • males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • must complete a favorable suitability or fitness determination
  • must provide REAL ID or other acceptable identification for federal facility access
  • must pass pre-employment physical examination
  • must adhere to drug-free workplace policies
  • must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
  • must be able to work in hot, cold, damp or drafty warehouse conditions
  • must wear safety equipment as required

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to do the work of a Materials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) without more than normal supervision
  • perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as receiving general guidance on assignments, such as loading and handling material and how items are to be received and identified
  • knowledge of federal logistics regulations and safety standards
  • physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting
  • experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment
  • attention to detail in verifying documentation and material condition
  • ability to work in diverse and physically demanding environments

Job Duties

  • Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials
  • reviews disposal turn-in document accompanying material, compares data against property assuring correct information and proper documentation (e.g., stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code)
  • visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability
  • determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, special focus items, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing
  • verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes, takes action to challenge questionable items/codes, and maintains segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL
  • ensures proper certification is attached to turn-in document when demilitarized by host or generating activity
  • performs special and periodic inventory of property
  • re-palletizes/re-locates property as necessary
  • operates forklifts and related materials handling equipment to move, load and unload, stack or un-stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment
