Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical equipment operating experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate basic mathematics, reading comprehension, and problem solving
  • Willingness and ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule covering days, nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Basic mathematics, reading comprehension, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and in different weather conditions

Job Duties

  • Load and unload barges, trucks, and/or rail cars
  • Safely perform deckhand duties on barges
  • Operate corn-unloading systems at silos, including corn sample analysis and documentation
  • Operate heavy equipment including hitachi, bobcat, front end loader, clam shell, and skid steer loader
  • Participate 100% in all safety training, daily safety meetings, and scheduled safety audits
  • Report all injuries and accidents immediately
  • Complete safety initiatives and incentives monthly and on time
  • Participate in the creation of JSA and SOPs
  • Issue permits such as work permit, lock tag try, Class B and C hot work permits
  • Know locations of head count areas, emergency evacuation routes, and storm shelters
  • Understand USCG Marine Security levels
  • Maintain knowledge of area goals and principles
  • Adhere to Primient policies and procedures
  • Work flexible shifts including night, weekends, rotation/swing shifts, holidays, and overtime
  • Understand hazards of inclement weather
  • Complete area testing
  • Know startup and shut down procedures for equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot and communicate any issues
  • Maintain safety and GMP standards
  • Provide clear and accurate handover to next shift
  • Complete daily documentation and log book
  • Draft out and prep barges, including knot tying to secure barge and loading/unloading cells
  • Report inventory and railcar offloading using Grain Smart
  • Understand gentle rolls and bag house clean out
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills
  • Create notifications
  • Work in hot and cold temperatures
  • Climb and work at heights exceeding 50 feet
  • Climb ladders
  • Lift and carry up to 55 lbs
