Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred
- No prior experience required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
- Standing for extended periods and ability to perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to follow safe work practices and observe safety protocols
- Forklift certification optional and if applicable must meet eligibility requirements
- Minors not allowed to operate heavy machinery or compactors
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred but not required
- No experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing including with those who have limited English skills
- Able to stand for long periods and perform frequent physical activities such as bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing, and climbing ladders
- Ability to lift and carry 30-40 pounds
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to follow safety protocols and report hazards
- Basic math skills including counting, adding, and subtracting
Job Duties
- Remove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods
- Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing
- Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor
- Use cardboard compactors and identify problems
- Maintain donor tallies
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture
- Report any potential hazards or accidents
- Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified
- Perform other duties as assigned
