Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency preferred
  • No prior experience required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
  • Standing for extended periods and ability to perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Reliable attendance
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and observe safety protocols
  • Forklift certification optional and if applicable must meet eligibility requirements
  • Minors not allowed to operate heavy machinery or compactors

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalency preferred but not required
  • No experience required
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing including with those who have limited English skills
  • Able to stand for long periods and perform frequent physical activities such as bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing, and climbing ladders
  • Ability to lift and carry 30-40 pounds
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and report hazards
  • Basic math skills including counting, adding, and subtracting

Job Duties

  • Remove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods
  • Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing
  • Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor
  • Use cardboard compactors and identify problems
  • Maintain donor tallies
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture
  • Report any potential hazards or accidents
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified
  • Perform other duties as assigned
