Job Requirements
- Valid captain's license or equivalent certification
- Minimum of 5 years experience in maritime vessel operation and towing
- Ability to navigate inland and ocean waters proficiently
- Knowledge of vessel documentation and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of towing rigging and maintenance
- Willingness to enforce strict safety and drug/alcohol policies
- Ability to conduct safety drills and maintain accurate records
Job Qualifications
- Proven expertise in vessel piloting for inland and ocean waters
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with towing rig assembly and towing operations
- Familiarity with vessel maintenance procedures and inspections
- Ability to supervise and train crew members effectively
- Knowledge of pollution prevention and safe fuel handling procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Job Duties
- Exercise careful navigation and maritime skill in towing services
- Direct and oversee safe operation of vessel, tow, and cargo
- Supervise crew members during vessel operations and demurrage ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies
- Maintain valid vessel documentation onboard
- Coordinate vessel maintenance with Port Engineer and keep maintenance records updated
- Ensure proper preparation, rigging, and security of tow during transit
- Conduct weekly fire and boat drills and document them in the vessel's logbook
