Job Requirements
- Must be an approved Mashgiach by the Va'ad Hakashrus of Buffalo
- minimum of 40-45 hours availability per week including potential for additional hours during special events
- full-time commitment
- understanding of kosher dietary laws
- experience with kosher food preparation and kitchen operations
- strong manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills
- ability to work in hot and busy kitchen environments
- physical ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs
- professional appearance and hygiene
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- adhere to safety and sanitary standards
Job Qualifications
- Certified by the Va'ad Hakashrus of Buffalo as a Mashgiach
- strong knowledge of Jewish dietary laws (kashrus)
- experience as a Mashgiach or similar food service role preferred
- knowledge of kosher food preparation including entrees, sauces, soups, and accompaniments
- ability to educate and train staff on kosher food handling
- proficiency in English language reading, writing, and speaking
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- knowledge of HACCP and health department guidelines
Job Duties
- Counsel, monitor and enforce all kosher dietary laws
- educate and train new and existing employees on kosher standards and procedures
- verify and document kashrus of all incoming food products and ingredients
- maintain records of food items and their kosher certification status
- collaborate with procurement to ensure steady supply of kosher ingredients
- update order guides, checklists, and documentation related to kosher food preparation and kitchen operations
- oversee daily kitchen operations including operation of heating equipment and maintaining sanitation standards
- uphold professionalism and hygiene standards
- assist in training student workers and new hires
- demonstrate excellent customer service at all times
