Job Requirements

  • Lift and/or move up to approximately 50 pounds frequently
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling required frequently
  • Routine standing for duration of shift
  • Safely maneuver equipment such as hand carts, blenders, knives, slicers, and wine keys
  • Scheduled shifts determined by business needs

Job Qualifications

  • Prior culinary experience in a similar role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of proper cooking techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and hold staff accountable
  • Familiarity with menu development and food trend research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to provide constructive performance feedback
  • Experience in performance management and adherence to employment policies

Job Duties

  • Develop and promote learning and nurturing environment for restaurant Team Members focusing on cooking techniques, knife skills, time management, and accountability
  • Maintain appropriate staff levels based on projected sales and business needs
  • Cultivate an environment of open, authentic dialogue with the restaurant team, senior team, and home office partners
  • Practice proactive performance management in partnership with the General Manager and HR to ensure adherence to employment policies and procedures
  • Stay updated with current food trends through research and vendor partnerships
  • Assist Executive Chef with daily, weekly, and monthly specials and menu development
  • Minimize employee turnover by hiring qualified people, orienting new employees, setting clear expectations, training, coaching, and providing feedback
  • Facilitate implementation of company learning and training programs and monitor performance to ensure skill transfer
  • Achieve or exceed kitchen financial expectations, including food cost, food efficiencies, labor costs, and direct kitchen expenses
