Job Requirements

- Ability to lift regularly up to 40 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs

Job Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience such as farmers’ markets, events, retail, nonprofit, community programs, or customer service
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Experience working with vendors or small business owners
- Comfortable handling cash per established procedures with attention to accuracy and documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Zoom, and social media platforms
- Availability to work Wednesdays and occasional evenings or weekends as needed
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Experience working at or with a Certified Farmers’ Market preferred
- Familiarity with food retail, regulatory compliance, or Department of Agriculture standards preferred
- Experience working with underserved or diverse communities preferred
Job Duties
- Lead day-of operations for The Market on Kern
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for Market on Kern vendors
- Lead vendor retention and onboarding with support from the Events Manager
- Coordinate vendor check-in, stall placement, and market logistics
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Manage EBT, Market Match, WIC, and cash handling per identified procedures with clear documentation
- Oversee market setup, breakdown, cleanliness, and on-site staff or volunteers
- Coordinate with on-site security to de-escalate and resolve issues
- Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors, customers, and community partners
- Support market programming such as food demos, cultural activations, pop-ups, and special events
- Assist with recurring DFP events such as ArtHop, CartHop, and other Downtown activations as assigned
- Update social media with market news, vendor highlights, and seasonal content
- Organize and maintain weekly market supplies
- Process load lists and reconcile weekly market payments and sales reports
- Maintain vendor files and administrative records
- Assist with permits and compliance coordination for Certified Farmers’ Markets
- Collaborate with the Fresno County Department of Agriculture and other agencies as needed
- Support outreach and marketing related to WIC, CalFresh, and Market Match
- Develop digital and print promotional materials and assist with community outreach
- Attend weekly supervision meetings with the Events Manager and other required meetings or trainings
- Participate as part of a design team planning for a future downtown weekend farmers’ market
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners to support DFP’s broader event strategy
- Perform other duties as assigned
