Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Related experience in culinary or food service preferred
- Serve Safe certification or similar preferred
- Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds
- Weekend availability required
- Strong organizational skills and unwavering standards for quality and cleanliness
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen
- Ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
- Willingness to follow directions and ask questions for clarification
- Safe handling knife skills and proficiency with kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, mixers, and char broilers
- Experience in stock, soup, sauce or dressing making and basic meat and fish fabrication preferred
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor during crises
- Exemplary attendance and compliance with company attendance standards
Job Duties
- Use a variety of cooking methods including poaching, braising, charbroiling, searing, and frying
- Follow recipes and presentation techniques according to JW Marriott brand standards
- Complete kitchen prep lists and set up/break down cooking stations
- Practice safe food handling and maintain sanitary service areas
- Accept or reject ingredients based on quality and quantity
- Minimize food waste and ensure proper labeling and storage of foods
- Communicate product needs or equipment repairs promptly
