Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of experience preferably in fleet and transportation industry
- Two years in a supervisory role related to the position
- Experience with transit operations
- Experience working in a multi-union environment
- Valid State of Illinois driver's license
- Completion of rail operations familiarization program within six months of hire
- Required to maintain Rail Safety or Train Operating Certification
- Must tolerate extreme weather conditions and long work periods in field
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and operate office machinery
- Must live within CTA Statutory Service Area within six months of employment
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years experience in fleet or transportation industry with project management
- At least two years supervisory experience related to position responsibilities
- Experience in transit operations
- Experience working in a multi-union environment
- Valid State of Illinois driver's license
- Ability to complete rail operations familiarization program
- Must maintain current Rail Safety or Train Operating Certification
- Detailed knowledge of transportation system operations and safety
- Strong employee interviewing and conflict resolution skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage emergency situations calmly
- Ability to research, analyze, and prepare reports on operations
Job Duties
- Supervises and mentors employees regarding work assignments and job duties
- Investigates violations of rules and standard operating procedures
- Conducts employee interviews related to rule violations
- Determines and administers appropriate disciplinary actions
- Maintains documentation of investigations and interviews
- Manages staff to ensure safe and high-quality customer service
- Travels to accident and emergency sites to supervise rail personnel and operations
- Implements safety campaigns and audits to prevent accidents
- Recommends corrective measures to reduce injuries and complaints
- Communicates alternate routes and shuttle service information
- Resolves customer service complaints in the field
- Observes operations and recommends service improvements
- Collaborates and communicates regarding employee matters and grievances
- Prepares grievance responses and handles union inquiries
- Evaluates staff performance for compliance and determines corrective actions
- Serves as a primary CTA contact in community and governmental meetings
- Hires, trains, develops, monitors, and evaluates staff
- Performs related duties as assigned
