Job Requirements

  • Requires a relevant bachelor's degree
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year experience with special event programming
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks
  • Supervisory experience of staff and/or students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work non-traditional work week
  • Ability to work in a high-tempo work environment
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and membership/facility management software
  • Ability to obtain American Red Cross CPR Instructor certification within 3 months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with special event programming
  • Supervisory experience of staff and/or students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including weekends and evenings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and membership/facility management software
  • Preferred experience in aquatics program environment including swim meet management and knowledge of Colorado Timing equipment or Hy-Tek Swim Meet Management software
  • American Red Cross CPR Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Preferred certifications include American Red Cross Lifeguard and/or Lifeguard Instructor

Job Duties

  • Coordinate scheduling of recreational facility spaces for campus organizations, student groups, and community organizations including Ocasek Natatorium for swimming and diving events, Student Recreation & Wellness Center, and Buchtel Field
  • Assist fellow SRWS Program Area Managers with scheduling internal program space
  • Create contractual agreements for facility usage
  • Arrange set-up and tear-down responsibilities for events
  • Supervise rentals, oversee payments, and ensure safety standards are adhered to
  • Assist in management of daily operations of recreational facility spaces including SRWC, ONAT, and Buchtel Field
  • Assist in development of training plans for facility operations staff including Aquatics Program, Informal Recreation Program, and Fitness & Wellness Program
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff within the Aquatics and Informal Recreation programs
  • Assist in management and promotion of Aquatics Programs including American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, swim lessons, and swim meet management
  • Coordinate maintenance and upkeep of facilities to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
