Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years of event or conference management experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Availability to be on call as needed
  • Ability to perform hands-on event support tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred study in hospitality, event management or related field
  • Three to five years of professional experience in event or conference management
  • At least two years of supervision experience
  • Strong active listening and oral communication skills
  • Effective written communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Exceptional service orientation and interpersonal skills
  • High social perceptiveness and diplomacy
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and event management software
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Hire, train, manage, mentor and evaluate event support and student worker staff
  • Advise best practices for customer service, facility setup, and equipment operations
  • Manage daily operations and provide on-site event and technical support for University Center and Griffin Center
  • Manage, maintain and improve audio visual potential in University Center and Griffin Center spaces
  • Ensure proper emergency and event signage are in place
  • Greet partners, clients and guests before and during events to ensure satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Sodexo and other teams to improve event processes
  • Enforce university event policies and perform routine facility walkthroughs
  • Manage shuttle operations and coordinate staff briefings
  • Attend regular meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
