Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Five or more years of security experience preferably in healthcare
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission Hospital National Performance Goals preferred
- Familiarity with NFPA Life Safety 101 and related codes preferred
- Minimum three years supervisory experience
- Completion of IAHSS Advanced Security Officer Course or certification within 180 days
- Willingness to travel within Mercy Health system
- Must maintain required licensures and certifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement and internal teams

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- Experience conducting security training and incident investigations
- Proficiency with security technology systems such as access control and video surveillance
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Joint Commission standards
Job Duties
- Manage and plan day to day operations of the Security department
- Develop security programs to address ongoing challenges in healthcare security
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with law enforcement agencies, administration, risk management, and clinical care teams
- Train, validate skills, monitor, report, and supervise security officers to minimize safety risks
- Manage technology systems including key control, access control systems, and video surveillance
- Conduct and direct investigations of security-related incidents
- Perform performance reviews and provide coaching for security and valet staff
- Develop and implement security operational procedures such as security awareness, traffic control, physical property security, and active assailant response
- Collaborate with leadership and other departments to establish policies and coordinate safety programs
- Maintain proficiency with OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Conduct proactive and reactive security assessments and report findings
- Monitor and trend security incidents and implement performance improvement activities
- Participate in facility Safety Committee and other assigned committees
- Conduct security training as requested
- Travel within Mercy Health system to support security operations
- Collaborate with FMES departments for task consistency and teamwork
- Manage budget goals, control expenses, and allocate resources effectively
- Develop leadership strategies to guide team towards achieving objectives
- Establish and meet departmental performance improvement goals
- Conduct timely, effective performance appraisals and provide feedback
- Maintain technical knowledge, trends, and regulatory compliance
- Pursue professional growth opportunities
- Maintain required licensures and certifications
