Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years experience in food service management
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Food Protection Manager Certification
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Good and regular attendance
  • Ability to travel 0 percent
  • Ability to perform physical inspections and manage emergency preparedness
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Registered or licensed Dietitian
  • Registered Dietetic Technician
  • Certified Dietary Manager
  • Certified Food Service Manager
  • Food Management Professional
  • Associates degree or higher in food service or restaurant management
  • Must meet state requirements and have scheduled consultations with registered dietitian
  • Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-CFP accredited program
  • Two years experience in food service management
  • Preferably experience in acute care hospital setting
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet preparation

Job Duties

  • Organize and direct overall operation of Nutrition & Culinary Services food service function
  • manage department in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
  • participate in hospital’s strategic planning for mission and vision achievement
  • manage department budget through operational and labor expense control
  • oversee purchasing and inventory management of food, supplies, and equipment
  • develop and maintain adequate staffing schedules within budgeted FTEs
  • inspect deliveries and confirm invoice accuracy
  • conduct monthly physical inventories
  • monitor quality control of kitchen operations including safety and sanitation audits
  • lead staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
  • direct menu management process including preparation, distribution, and patient snack management
  • supervise food preparation ensuring food safety and adherence to therapeutic diets
  • oversee tray line assembly and meal delivery
  • perform physical plant inspections to ensure safe working environment
  • manage emergency preparedness including inventory of emergency food and supplies
  • participate in performance improvement and survey processes
  • maintain current compliance with federal and state regulations
  • attend mandatory in-services and staff meetings
  • utilize Microsoft Office and other software for documentation and reporting
