Job Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Library or Information Science, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Three years of relevant experience including communications, marketing, public relations, library services, community engagement, or program coordination
- One year of supervisory experience
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate staff
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work varied hours including evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays
- Commitment to public service and innovation
- Knowledge of needs and interests of people of diverse ages and backgrounds
Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, public relations, library services, community engagement, or public-facing program coordination
- One year of supervisory experience
- Experience in supervising staff or leading project teams
- Knowledge of library budgeting and basic financial practices
- Ability to use library technology and assist patrons
- Ability to work well with diverse populations
- Spanish speaking is a plus
Job Duties
- Lead planning and coordination of major library events and festivals
- Set priorities and guidelines for consistent, high-quality programs across branches
- Support staff as they plan and evaluate programs and events
- Coordinate large programs that involve multiple branches or departments
- Review and approve program content for marketing and public use
- Serve as the main contact for Friends of the Library groups
- Build partnerships with schools, nonprofits, cultural groups, and local agencies
- Represent the library at community events and outreach activities
- Work with partners to develop programs that meet community needs
- Identify possible partners, sponsors, and grant opportunities
- Help prepare funding applications and required reports
- Work with leadership to expand resources to support programming
- Lead programming and outreach services across the library system
- Supervise managers and staff and support their planning and coordination work
- Set priorities, standards, and best practices for library programs
- Work with leadership on strategic goals and system initiatives
- Coordinate with departments such as Communications for marketing and patron engagement
- Review results and support continuous improvement of programs and services
- Collect and review program data, attendance numbers, and feedback
- Prepare reports showing program results and community impact
- Manage budgets, contracts, and supply purchases for programming
