Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree
  • Five years of experience in food service or hospitality industry
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food services health, sanitation, and safety principles
  • Familiarity with federal and state food safety regulations
  • Understanding of food preparation, cooking methods, and ingredients

Job Duties

  • Support culinary and pastry lab instruction by managing supplies and maintenance
  • Oversee setup and breakdown of labs, demonstration stations, and coolers
  • Manage semester inventory and create par orders
  • Communicate food shortages or substitutions with faculty and organize solutions
  • Manage food purchasing onsite and with vendors
  • Take weekly inventory of coolers, freezers, and dry storage
  • Manage hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and timesheet approval for lab assistants and work-study students
  • Demonstrate proper operation of commercial kitchen equipment to students and faculty
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation and uniform standards
  • Ensure security of dining and kitchen areas and act as key-holder as needed
  • Support faculty in instructing hospitality students in dining room setup and service
  • Cross-train in budget management for lab operations
  • Research and obtain equipment quotes for program funding
  • Develop and conduct recruitment activities and presentations
  • Publish menus and coordinate publicity for simulated restaurant experiences
  • Coordinate and manage reservations for dining and special events
  • Support ongoing training on policies, safety, maintenance, and use of equipment and chemicals
  • Travel to various locations to teach assigned courses during irregular hours
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
