Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of food service management experience or related degree
- Successful completion of accredited Food Service Manager Certification Course and passing exam within two weeks of employment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Proficient in mathematics and mechanical kitchen skills
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proficient in computer and electronic device usage including AISD software
- Must have reliable transportation and contact number
- Ability to work 197 duty days
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift moderate weights, and work in commercial kitchen conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of food service management experience or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in related field as alternative
- Experience as a Lead Specialist within Austin ISD Food Service preferred for internal candidates
- Knowledge of food service management and quantity food production
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Proficiency in mathematics and mechanical skills for kitchen equipment
- Good interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
- Sound coaching and employee development abilities
- Proficiency with computers and food service software
- Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
- Strong customer service skills
Job Duties
- Work with managers in various schools through hands-on training to develop knowledge and skills necessary to assume full responsibility for food service program management
- Assure adherence with established federal, state, and local guidelines in meal preparation, service, counting, and claiming
- Maintain records for program accountability including operating reports, cash receipts, deposits, meal planning, production records, inventory, and payroll
- Ensure proper collection, security, and deposit of money received at meal services
- Assist with production planning and ordering food, supplies, and equipment necessary for quality meal preparation
- Assist with evaluation of new food products for acceptance in schools
- Maintain work schedules, assign duties, monitor kitchen activities, and participate in meal preparation and clean-up
- Monitor employee performance, provide coaching, and conduct staff training and development
- Follow all safety procedures and promote sanitation standards according to local and AISD policies
- Develop and implement sustainable kitchen operations such as waste reduction, recycling, composting, and conservation
- Promote food service programs and healthy food access on campus and provide nutrition education
- Complete ongoing education and follow district safety and emergency protocols
- Provide exceptional customer service and foster a culture of respect
