Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum five years event management experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with event database or registration systems
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Must pass background screening
  • Completion of SafeSport training within two weeks of hire
  • Able to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Capable of frequent travel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Event Management, Sports Management, or related field
  • Minimum of five years experience in event management
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Experience working with event database or registration systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively
  • Proven customer service and stakeholder satisfaction skills
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Sport event experience, especially indoor volleyball, is a plus
  • Familiarity with USOPC, National Governing Body, or Regional Volleyball Association structures is advantageous
  • Must pass a USAV background screening before hire
  • Completion of SafeSport training within two weeks of hire and ongoing compliance

Job Duties

  • Supervise direct reports, communicate job expectations, and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Prepare, execute, and monitor assigned event budgets by tracking expenditures and analyzing variances
  • Serve as Tournament Director overseeing all pre-event logistics and event execution, making final decisions on eligibility, disqualifications, and financial matters
  • Collaborate with internal departments including IT, Membership, Marketing, Brand and Communications, Officials, SafeSport, Spectator Admissions, and Warehouse operations to optimize event promotion, experience, and safety
  • Evaluate and approve operational plans, schedules, and post-event reports for assigned events
  • Act as primary contact for sponsors and vendors to ensure successful in-venue promotions
  • Contract and manage independent contractors to meet service deliverables for major national qualifiers and championships
  • Manage customer service for event-related inquiries
  • Coordinate with warehouse operations to prepare, pack, and ship event materials and equipment
  • Oversee hotel and housing relationships for assigned events
  • Forecast and procure VIK inventory and event awards
  • Maintain and update Championship Manuals for assigned events
  • Collaborate with Junior, RVA, and Officials Assemblies to maximize event quality
  • Work with recruiting services to collect player information and statistics
  • Manage the full RFP process and oversee contracted service providers onsite to ensure quality and compliance
  • Lead major operational initiatives including VIK inventory and awards program coordination
  • Enforce Stay & Play policies with housing partners
  • Recommend enhancements to event registration systems
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
