Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, recreation management, or related field
  • Minimum of five years experience in public sector recreation or community services management
  • Demonstrated experience supervising large teams and managing multi-million dollar budgets
  • Strong knowledge of recreation programming, community engagement, and public policy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Proof of education required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, recreation management, or related field
  • Extensive management experience in a large public sector recreation or community services organization
  • Proven ability in budget preparation and financial oversight
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills managing large, diverse teams
  • Experience developing and implementing innovative recreation programs
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain inter-agency collaborations and community partnerships

Job Duties

  • Supervises four Division Superintendents who direct employees responsible for providing recreation services to 32 park sites and community centers
  • Prepares and monitors an annual budget totaling $21 million
  • Responsible for staff development, training, team building, supervision, and evaluation for over 600 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees
  • Resolves and/or mitigates community issues or problems
  • Develops innovative programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse population of over 450,000 residents
  • Maintains inter-agency cooperation and coordination of service delivery with other youth-serving organizations in the community
  • Interprets, implements, and enforces policies, procedures, regulations, and permits in a consistent and effective manner
