Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years proven experience in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine
  • Strong knife skills and expertise in food handling
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Flexibility to work full-time or part-time shifts
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods
  • Willingness to adhere to strict cleanliness and hygiene standards

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine with a strong emphasis on knife skills and food handling for at least 1-2 years
  • Background in fine dining or upscale restaurant environments preferred
  • Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering is advantageous
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation procedures
  • Strong culinary skills with an understanding of food industry standards
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Previous experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professionalism

Job Duties

  • Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and attention to detail
  • Develop and refine sushi menu offerings in collaboration with the culinary team
  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are strictly followed during preparation and service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Handle food ingredients properly, including storage, handling, and rotation to ensure freshness
  • Assist with other food preparation tasks as needed within the kitchen
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking
  • Uphold high standards of presentation, taste, and quality in all dishes served
  • Collaborate with restaurant staff to deliver excellent customer service
