Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of event management experience as a student or professional
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining attention to detail
  • Flexible work hours including frequent evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to balance fiscal responsibility with client and audience experience goals
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to routinely move items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Supervisory experience or ability to supervise student staff

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of event management experience
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, College Personnel, Performing Arts, Theater Management or similar preferred
  • 5 years or more of professional experience including graduate program work experience preferred
  • Experience with college student activities or events preferred

Job Duties

  • Manage and advise student organizations hosting events in major performance venues including Hill Auditorium, the Power Center for the Performing Arts, Rackham Auditorium, Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, and Arthur Miller Theater
  • Manage and facilitate assigned major events hosted by U-M departments and non-university clients
  • Design, plan, and manage all technical and physical production aspects and coordinate the activities of all staff involved such as technical supervisors, ushers, stagehands, and box office staff
  • Negotiate the physical layout of production while maintaining responsibility for the facility
  • Work closely with the Michigan Union Ticket Office Manager
  • Attend and manage events from start to finish
