Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years full-service restaurant Maitre D experience or equivalent
  • accurate mathematic skills
  • ability to pass an exam in English with 90 percent or better in menu and specials, wine list, liquor list and specialty drinks, liquor liability laws and knowledge, restaurant layout including table numbers and station numbers
  • warm, sincere, outgoing personality
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to interact maturely and courteously with guests
  • ability to remember guest details such as names, faces, and important information
  • compatible persona with established image of the restaurant
  • patience and courtesy in responding to difficult guests

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests for the dining room
  • oversee the dining room and act as goodwill ambassador to guests
  • anticipate needs of scheduled special parties
  • communicate seating needs to service, bus, and other host staff
  • complete all side work when and as assigned
  • master the restaurant's computer register system
  • perform comp and void procedures on the register
  • perform server readings on the register according to standing operating procedure
  • check to ensure that all server and busser side work has been completed as assigned
  • train and educate host staff in standing operating procedure
  • assign service staff workstations if requested to do so
