Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years full-service restaurant Maitre D experience or equivalent
- Accurate mathematic skills
- Willingness to pass an English exam covering menu, specials, wine and liquor listings, liability laws, and restaurant layout
- Ability to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
- Warm, sincere, outgoing personality
- Good sense of humor in guest interactions
- Mature and professional communication skills
- Capacity to remember and recall guest details
- Compatibility with restaurant image
- Patience and courtesy with difficult guests
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours
- Ability to move safely in crowded and noisy spaces
- Competence in managing money
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as moving chairs and booster seats
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years full-service restaurant Maitre D experience or equivalent
- Accurate mathematic skills
- Ability to pass an English exam with 90 percent or better on menu, specials, wine list, liquor list and specialty drinks, liquor liability laws, and restaurant layout
- Warm, sincere, and outgoing personality
- Ability to relate to guests with appropriate humor
- Mature interpersonal skills as goodwill ambassador
- Ability to remember guest details such as names and important information
- Compatible persona with established restaurant image
- Patience and courtesy in handling difficult guests
- Physical ability to stand long periods
- Ability to move safely in crowded restaurant spaces
- Capable of working nights, weekends, and holidays
- Experience handling large sums of money safely
Job Duties
- Greet and seat guests in the dining room
- Oversee dining room operations and act as goodwill ambassador to guests
- Master functions outlined in host/hostess job description
- Anticipate needs of scheduled special parties
- Communicate seating needs to service, bus and other host staff
- Complete all side work when assigned
- Master the restaurant's computer register system
- Perform comp and void procedures on the register
- Perform server readings on the register according to standing operating procedure
- Check to ensure completion of server and busser side work
- Train and educate host staff in operating procedures
- Assign service staff workstations if requested
