Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of experience in construction and/or general maintenance work for Maintenance Worker
- one year of experience as a Maintenance Worker or two years of construction and/or general maintenance work for Senior Maintenance Worker
- valid Florida Driver's License
- possession of Florida Commercial Driver's License may be required depending on assignment
- ability to perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled manual work
- ability to safely operate chainsaws, commercial mowers, blowers, and other equipment
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to perform heavy manual labor outdoors
- ability to fill out daily work sheets
- ability to safely tow and back trailers
- ability to interact effectively with others
- ability to communicate both orally and in writing
- ability to work under stressful conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of experience in park maintenance or general maintenance work for Maintenance Worker
- one year of experience as a Maintenance Worker or two years of construction or general maintenance experience for Senior Maintenance Worker
- valid Florida Driver's License
- ability to safely operate lawn and maintenance equipment
- effective communication skills
- ability to perform heavy manual labor
Job Duties
- Operates chainsaws and brush cutters in ditch maintenance and grounds keeping
- operates commercial mowers and landscape equipment
- assists with application, storage, mixing and loading of herbicides and insecticides
- sprays for control of mosquito larvae and aquatic weeds
- performs scheduled housekeeping duties
- removes refuse and paper from grounds
- cuts, trims, waters, and fertilizes lawn and bushes
- operates various equipment including blowers, sweepers, pressure washers
- performs minor repairs such as changing lights and unstopping toilets
- washes and cleans vehicles and equipment
- sets up and operates audiovisual and lighting equipment for events
- assists tradespeople in construction tasks
- responds to emergency situations
- may serve as lead worker on small crews
