Job Requirements

  • Formal or informal education or training that ensures ability to read and write
  • One year of experience in labor or maintenance
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License, except for specific departments
  • Ability to pass department-specific background checks
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Basic knowledge of manual labor tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment
  • Physical fitness to perform manual labor

Job Duties

  • Utilizes maintenance equipment to perform maintenance duties such as sweeping, mowing, and trimming
  • Cleans, repairs, and replaces equipment at City parks and facilities
  • Prepares City facilities for various City events
  • Participates in construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, City buildings, and facilities
  • Inspects equipment and reports maintenance or repair needs
  • Operates tractor mower, dump truck, and small equipment
  • Loads trucks with materials weighing up to 50 pounds
