Job Description

The City of Hollister, located in California, is currently seeking a Maintenance Worker I for its Municipal Airport. The Airport is a vital facility owned and operated by the City of Hollister, encompassing 343 acres, featuring 130 hangers, and two intersecting runways. Job Requirements

  • Formal or informal education or training ensuring ability to read and write
  • possession or ability to obtain Class A driver’s license within twelve months
  • ability to operate vehicular and mechanical equipment safely
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to perform heavy manual labor in various weather conditions
  • ability to maintain safety standards
  • willingness to work in diverse maintenance assignments

Job Qualifications

  • No experience required
  • formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
  • possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Class A driver's license within the first twelve months of hire
  • knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment
  • knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of work assigned
  • knowledge of safe driving principles and practices
  • skill to learn to operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner in routine situations
  • skill to operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, and power tools
  • skill to operate basic electronic record keeping equipment
  • skill to perform heavy manual labor for long periods of time in all types of weather
  • skill to operate a motor vehicle safely

Job Duties

  • Operate construction equipment and power tools such as backhoes, graders, front end loaders, rollers, vactors, compressors, jack hammers, paint sprayers, concrete saws, mowers, edgers, and blowers
  • maintain hand tools and assigned equipment
  • utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed
  • install barricades and cones prior to the performance of repair and maintenance activities
  • direct and control traffic around work sites
  • respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
  • record, keep, and maintain records of activities performed in written and/or electronic form
