Job Requirements
- Valid Montana driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- One year of maintenance or relevant experience
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work weekend shifts from April to October
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, light to heavy equipment
- Ability to follow safety standards and city policies
- Ability to perform janitorial and minor maintenance tasks
Job Qualifications
- Any combination of training and experience equivalent to one year of maintenance, light equipment experience, or a related field
- Ability to operate vehicles and various power equipment safely
- Knowledge of safety policies and standards related to park maintenance and construction
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Skill in following oral and written instructions independently
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals
- Valid Montana driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
Job Duties
- Provide landscape maintenance for park and recreation grounds, lands, trails, right-of-way, medians, and facilities using hand and power tools
- Maintain asphalt, gravel trails, pathways, and turf grass by sweeping, garbage removal, seeding, fertilizing, aerating, top dressing, watering, mowing
- Provide janitorial services including cleaning restrooms, picnic shelters, buildings, storage areas, and litter removal
- Perform minor routine maintenance and repairs on park fixtures, benches, fences, painting, athletic field marking, vandalism repair, and safety hazard identification
- Operate moderate to heavy construction equipment and vehicles such as tractors, skid steer loaders, utility trucks, and dump trucks
- Coordinate daily tasks with park attendants, volunteers, and partners
- Support special events and volunteer projects by preparing fields, courts, and safety equipment
- Maintain trees, shrubs, annuals, and ornamental grasses through propagation, watering, weeding, and fertilizing
- Perform routine inventory, equipment maintenance, and cleaning
- Provide snow and ice removal and assist with construction, conservation, recreation facility, and arborist projects
- Provide written reports and tracking sheets
- Perform deferred maintenance including irrigation, carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical, concrete, and building repair
- Perform other duties as assigned
