Job Requirements
- Meet all qualification requirements including education if applicable
- Hold a valid FAA Medical Certificate Class I or II valid through the closing date
- Complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 performing duties related to test program guidance and flight testing
- Maintain at least 1750 total flight hours with specified pilot-in-command and night flight hours
- Meet residency requirement of physically residing in the US or protectorates for at least three of the last five years unless eligible for a waiver
- Meet all applicable time in grade requirements by the specified date
- Be qualified and standardization-compliant per Army Training Manual and aircraft maintenance test flight manual
- Undergo a thorough background investigation
- New federal employees must complete a one year probationary period
- Possible requirement to obtain Secret level security clearance
- Submit a resume explicitly indicating meeting all requirements
- Military flight medicals are not acceptable
Job Qualifications
- Possession of Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Test Pilot Course or equivalency evaluation by a Maintenance Test Evaluator
- Valid FAA Medical Certificate Class I or II current within 12 calendar months
- Qualification in the aircraft to be flown and compliance with Army Training Manuals and Technical Manuals for flight testing procedures
- Minimum of 1750 total flight hours including at least 1150 pilot-in-command hours, 75 night flight hours, and 100 flight hours within the last 12 months
- At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level performing test program technical guidance and flight test operations
- Experience conducting test flights following FAA FARs and established test plans
- Ability to review and analyze test documentation and reports for compliance with safety standards
- Experience in developing and coordinating flight test activities and documentation
Job Duties
- Provide technical guidance and review of test programs and represent the program in technical matters related to testing, test design, test budgeting, test analysis, test results, new test competencies, workload acceptance, and related evaluations
- Conduct test flights in accordance with aircraft flight/performance manuals, established test plans, FAA FARs, policies and procedures governing aircraft certification and flight operations
- Review responses to test related documentation, annual reports, and periodic metrics to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety requirements and FARs
- Develop, execute, and review test cards, test readiness briefings, safety readiness briefs, test out-briefs and coordinate all activities supporting test execution
- Ensure compliance with FAA medical certification and maintain currency of flight hours as required
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to support maintenance and flight test objectives
- Maintain records and documentation of test flight outcomes and program metrics
