Job Description
The Maryland Army Aviation Support Facility (MD AASF) operates under the National Guard and plays an integral role in supporting and maintaining Army aviation assets. As part of the National Guard, MD AASF is dedicated to ensuring the readiness, safety, and operational capability of military aircraft, particularly rotary wing aircraft that are critical to the Army's mission. Job Requirements
- National Guard membership required
- Must be qualified in accordance with AR 95-1 and AR 95-20
- Must possess and maintain a US Army Class II Flight Physical
- Able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
- Must comply with the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment
- Ability to establish effective working relationships
- May require irregular or overtime hours
- Subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Federal employment suitability based on background investigation
- Acceptance of military uniform wear and military assignment as condition of employment
Job Qualifications
- Military grades CW2 to CW4
- Officer O-1 to O-3
- Minimum one year on-the-job experience in a comparable military rank
- Competent understanding of aviation test pilot principles and procedures
- Experience in civilian or military aviation programs
- Skilled in mission planning, flight preparation, and crew briefings
- Experience in aircraft inspections and mission manning
- Ability to instruct others in piloting assigned aircraft
- Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, and aviation safety programs
- CH-47 qualified or able to obtain qualification within six months
- Must have the competence to perform piloting administrative tasks
- Experience with unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
Job Duties
- Performs maintenance test flights of rotary wing aircraft to certify airworthiness
- Conducts final test flights after repairs or modifications
- Tests avionics modifications for flight reliability and accuracy
- Monitors quality control including weight and balance and compliance with aviation safety messages
- Compiles detailed reports on aircraft function and suitability
- Coordinates airworthiness documentation and administrative requirements
- Maintains test flight records
- Performs ferry flights to support maintenance or transfer activities
- Recovers aircraft from remote or emergency landing sites
- Performs other related duties as assigned
