Job Description

This position is offered by the Maryland Army Aviation Support Facility (MD AASF), a component of the National Guard. Job Requirements

  • Military grades CW2 to CW4 or officer O-1 to O-3
  • Minimum one year of on-the-job experience at a level directly below the next higher grade
  • Experience operating main-frame military aircraft including CH-47
  • Ability to qualify as pilot in command within six months if not already qualified
  • Comprehensive understanding of aviation mission planning and execution
  • Compliance with Department of Defense, Army, and National Guard safety directives
  • Submission of transcripts or educational documentation supporting qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • Possession of CW2-CW4 or officer O-1 to O-3 military grades
  • Minimum one year of relevant on-the-job experience in a position immediately below the next higher level
  • Demonstrated expertise operating main-frame military aircraft such as the CH-47 Chinook
  • Skilled in flight mission planning, crew training, and aviation safety program management
  • Knowledge of flight theory, navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
  • Ability to instruct others in aircraft piloting and operational procedures
  • Experience in unit flying, explosive and ground safety programs compliant with DoD and OSHA regulations
  • Documentation of education credentials and aviation certifications to support qualifications

Job Duties

  • Conduct flight tests of military aircraft to verify maintenance and repairs
  • Plan and prepare for aviation missions including flight plan development and crew briefings
  • Perform aircraft preflight inspections and assess equipment status before flights
  • Provide training and instruction to crew members on mission-specific tasks
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with aviation safety policies and procedures
  • Develop mission plans, policies, and advise commanders on aviation operations
  • Conduct navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, reconnaissance, and surveillance operations
