This position is offered by the Maryland Army Aviation Support Facility (MD AASF), a component of the National Guard. Job Requirements
- Military grades CW2 to CW4 or officer O-1 to O-3
- Minimum one year of on-the-job experience at a level directly below the next higher grade
- Experience operating main-frame military aircraft including CH-47
- Ability to qualify as pilot in command within six months if not already qualified
- Comprehensive understanding of aviation mission planning and execution
- Compliance with Department of Defense, Army, and National Guard safety directives
- Submission of transcripts or educational documentation supporting qualifications
Job Qualifications
- Possession of CW2-CW4 or officer O-1 to O-3 military grades
- Minimum one year of relevant on-the-job experience in a position immediately below the next higher level
- Demonstrated expertise operating main-frame military aircraft such as the CH-47 Chinook
- Skilled in flight mission planning, crew training, and aviation safety program management
- Knowledge of flight theory, navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
- Ability to instruct others in aircraft piloting and operational procedures
- Experience in unit flying, explosive and ground safety programs compliant with DoD and OSHA regulations
- Documentation of education credentials and aviation certifications to support qualifications
Job Duties
- Conduct flight tests of military aircraft to verify maintenance and repairs
- Plan and prepare for aviation missions including flight plan development and crew briefings
- Perform aircraft preflight inspections and assess equipment status before flights
- Provide training and instruction to crew members on mission-specific tasks
- Monitor and enforce compliance with aviation safety policies and procedures
- Develop mission plans, policies, and advise commanders on aviation operations
- Conduct navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, reconnaissance, and surveillance operations
