Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • some experience in heavy manual labor preferred
  • skill in the use of a variety of simple hand tools
  • ability to work safely with a variety of tools such as shovels, ladders, mower, saws
  • ability to operate motor vehicles safely
  • ability to understand and follow simple verbal instructions
  • subject to Sheriff’s Office security clearance (criminal records) check and fingerprinting
  • possess a valid Idaho driver’s license
  • must be able to be reached by telephone after hours
  • working hours will vary and may include weekends
  • must support and work at all county facilities and buildings
  • may be assigned to special assignments
  • designated safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Clean gutters, culverts, sewers and other drainage structures
  • load and unload stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, lumber, snow removal and heavy mechanical equipment
  • assist in a helper capacity in semi-skilled work such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, auto repair and concrete work by retrieving tools, moving lumber, mixing or stirring concrete
  • unload materials and equipment from delivery trucks
  • complete records for receipt of shipments
  • deliver boxes, packages, mail, etc.
  • operate larger automotive equipment
  • may train in the operation of riding rotary mowers
  • perform simple pruning of trees and shrubs
  • perform various tasks such as trash pick-up/removal, operating a small floor scrubbing machine and light janitorial duties
