Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- two years of experience working with heavy equipment or general maintenance
- valid state-issued driver’s license
- ability to complete airport driver training/certification
- valid Idaho Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- pass City of Boise background check including criminal history and reference checks
- pass driving record check
- pass Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)
- pass pre-employment drug test
- CDL capable of handling gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds
- ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely
- acceptable driving record
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- two years of experience working with heavy equipment or general maintenance
- valid state-issued driver’s license
- ability to complete airport driver training and certification
- valid Idaho Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- knowledge of airfield use, taxiways, runways, movement and non-movement areas
- principles and practices in use of ground and tower radios
- safe operation and maintenance of heavy equipment such as dump trucks, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes and snowplows
- knowledge of painting equipment and tools including runway stencils and taxiway markings
- familiarity with lighting, circuitry, signs and electrical system maintenance
- metal fabrication and welding skills
- hand tools used in electrical and related trades
- herbicide and pesticide application skills
- entry-level trade, construction, and groundskeeping skills
- animal control methods
- ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently
- effective communication skills in English
Job Duties
- operate heavy construction equipment to maintain airport infields, runways, and taxiways
- perform stormwater inspections, reporting, and maintenance
- clean and maintain areas to eliminate foreign object debris
- apply herbicides and pesticides
- respond to spills and incidents
- provide escort services in Security Identification Display Areas
- perform safety inspections
- paint runways, taxiways, and airport areas applying FAA-required glass beads
- perform general maintenance, inspection, and light repair of specialized equipment
- diagnose and analyze equipment problems
- utilize animal control tools to clear wildlife
- conduct certification inspections and implement corrective actions
- perform other duties as assigned
